Children's literacy is a part of the APC mission. Each patient and sibling who visits APC leaves with a book. Since 2001, APC has distributed more than 80,000 books to Arlington children.

Four years ago, 14-year-old Charlotte Platner, a young leader at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Arlington launched a book sale, with the help of her older sister, Margaret, and her mother, Janice, at St. Mary's to benefit APC. Following the sale they were able to contribute $2,681 to APC, some of which was used to purchase books and resource materials for APC's young patients.
